Description: St. Xavier’s Bathinda organized its first ever Fr. Anacleto Fernandes Rolling Trophy Inter School Basketball Tournament in memory of Parish Priest of Bathinda Rosary Church for his immense contribution towards the upliftment of poor and destitute. The tournament was a two day competition held on 29th and 30th Nov 2019 with participation of 12 teams of Boys and 8 teams of Girls. The competition was kick started by the inaugural speech of Fr. Sonny Furtado (Local delegate superior). Followed by qualifying matches between various teams. The results were as follows:- 1. St. Joseph’s Bathinda (Girls) and Dashmesh Public Sen. Sec. School Bathinda (Boys) lifted the 3rd Runner up trophy and a prize money of Rs 3000/-. 2. Khalsa Sen Sec. School, Bathinda (Girls) and St. Xavier’s School, Bathinda (Boys) won the 2nd position and the prize money of Rs. 5000/-. 3. And the first position and Fr. Anacleto Fernandes Rolling Trophy was bagged by Sports School, Ghudda (Girls) and Khalsa Sen. Sec. School, Bathinda (Boys) with the prize money of Rs. 10,000/-. The two day competition saw the participants were at their best exhibiting the spirit of “Dunk It” (tagline of the event). The closing ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Rev. Fr. Selvraj (Principal – St. Xavier’s School, Rampura Phul and Local superior Bathinda, local House). He awarded the best Player of the Tournament - Pinky, Sports School, Ghudda (Girls) and Tarsem, Khalsa Sen. Sec. School, Bathinda (Boys). Principal Rev. Fr. Cidloy Furtado (St. Xavier’s School, Bathinda) concluded the event on a positive address by congratulating the winners and advised the other teams to move on and always have hunger to win, he further thanked all the officials Kulwinder Singh (Khalsa School), Nirmal Singh (Behman Diwana), Jaswinder Singh (Khalsa School), Harjinder Singh (Sports School, Ghudda), Kulveer Singh (Malwa College) for making this event a success.
